Welcome back to the website after a few months of inactivity.

Hoping you all had brilliant Christmases and Happy New Years and what-not.
So after a few months I got a bit sick of seeing Russell Crowes face on this webpage.
So I have a plan…
If we all post awesome inspiring things, we can be rid of Russell’s face!
You: “Good idea, Tom!”
Me: “Yes. I am.”
You: “That doesn’t make sense, but I love you anyway!”

So the general idea is, talk to Lauren, Brad or myself about enquiring an account and you could be awesome like me.

According to IMDB Russell Crowe is/was a Gladiator. (Incase you don’t know, IMDB also known as the Internet Movie DataBase and it (obviously) tells you about movies…)
2. What are Gladiators?
Wikipedia informed me that a Gladiator was an armed combatant who entertained audiences in the Roman Republic and Roman Empire in violent confrontations with other gladiators, wild animals, and condemned criminals

1st century BCE, 2nd century CE and the 4th century CE. I wonder what happened to the 3rd?

What’s that I hear you ask? What do you need to bring? Well let me tell you..

3 to 4 changes of clothes. (Boys that is a minimum of 3 please wear clean clothes every day – Girls you don’t need 9 changes 6 at the most)
1 change of clothes you can get dirty in
A sturdy pair of shoes
Bible – so I did that by accident but feel free to bring 2
Sleeping bag/ bedding
At least one teddy bear
Bible – ok so I did that on purpose but 3 is ok
Toiletries – this means toothbrushes, soap, DEODORANT, shampoo and toe nail clippers.
A phone charger, because I know you couldn’t live without your phone.

So what are you waiting for go clean your room and when your mum asks why tell her it’s a present from me.

I guess you could say Term 3 has been a little crazy, with lots of running around! but we have been having a blast! We’ve had Shine, Birthday Party Night (Which I heard was a ball), Sleepover Night, Loads of Rally nights and Dress up nights = CRAZY!

Next week we are having our Youth Formal!!
The cost is $7, it’s held at the church, so come dressed up (Really Fancy) and ready for some of Brendon and Harley’s awesome ?? dancing! haha.
We cant wait to see you guys there!

Don’t miss church on this Sunday, if you want something to invite your friends or family to, this is it!

Colossians 1:15-17 We look at this Son and see the God who cannot be seen. We look at this Son and see God’s original purpose in everything created. For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels—everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him. He was there before any of it came into existence and holds it all together right up to this moment.

If Jesus is so central to our Father in Heaven, if He is what holds everything together, then surely he should be central in our lives? We can’t simply make him a priority and put him before all things, we have to also make him centre of all things.

Jesus spoke of himself being the vine in John 15. When he spoke he said “I am the vine, you are the branches”. So often we get this the wrong way around, we say with our lives that we are the vine and that Jesus is a branch; He is something we add to our lives, he adds to what we are doing. This is not God’s plan for you and me, He is the vine and we are the branch; we add to what he his doing. Everything we do, every moment we have is for him and his purpose. You going to the supermarket to get milk is not about you, it is about him, what is his purpose. You going to work each day is not just for you, it is for Him, he is doing something in your workplace that he wants you to ADD to!

Jesus is at the centre, always has been and always will be. The question is; is He the centre of your life?

If this is your first time with us at Sale Baptist Church we are excited to be hosting you today. We pray that you will find your time here comfortable and encouraging. Be blessed!

Exams are over and we’re just past half-way, so now might be a great time to just slow down, take a step back from life and see where we’re at.

This semester has been pretty full on, so it’d be cool to just cast your mind back to all that’s happened and remember all the good things that God has done…coz he has done somethings!!

But then, lets look forward to all that the rest of the year has in store and run the race hard for the end of the year!!

So yeah, let’s make this semester better than the last and look forward to all God has in store for us!

So you have two options. Give up, or weather the storm. How do you do this? Turn to the God who gives shelter whenever and wherever you need it. Jesus is our hiding place. Hide in faith. He is an inviting shelter, because he is Man, and so has compassion towards men, and a joy in their salvation and safety.

God Will Swallow Up Death Forever

[25:1] O LORD, you are my God;
I will exalt you; I will praise your name,
for you have done wonderful things,
plans formed of old, faithful and sure.
[2] For you have made the city a heap,
the fortified city a ruin;
the foreigners’ palace is a city no more;
it will never be rebuilt.
[3] Therefore strong peoples will glorify you;
cities of ruthless nations will fear you.
[4] For you have been a stronghold to the poor,
a stronghold to the needy in his distress,
a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat;

Turn to Jesus and let Him stand in the face of danger, the eye of the cyclone in your place.

I’m pumped for 70′s night tonight, the place looks awesome, cant wait to see everyone dressed up and dancing I might even bust a few moves myself.

My amazing IGNITEyouth friends I’ve got something to say. When haven’t I really?

So what am I busting to talk about? L.O.V.E. Everybody say awwwww.

The love I want to talk to you about is not puppy love, or high school crush love, or even the way you love you favorite band. Not the love you have for your grandma or the way you love your phone. What I’m talking about is bigger.
Not the love you feel for your little sister and your Mum. Not the love you have for your brother or your Dad. What I’m talking about is bigger.
I don’t mean the way to love your best friend or even the way you love your cat. What I’m talking about is bigger!
Not the way a husband loves a wife or a fat kid loves cake. What I’m talking about is BIGGER!

I’m talking about real love. I’m talking about self sacrificing love.  I’m talking about with all we are… love.

A love that drove a father to sacrifice his son.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16)

A love that lasts.
Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever (Psalm 136:26).

A love that is always ours.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39).

A love that covers all.
But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:4-5)

I’ve been thinking a lot about this love. Here is what I have concluded. God’s love is, cool, amazing, wonderful, awesome, powerful and real. It covers all our sin, it is more than enough for us, it brings us to or knees, it lifts us out of despair. It is perfect. It is kind and generous. It is forgiving. It keeps no record of wrong.  It protects and trusts. It never fails.

And then it hits me. God’s love is all of those things and then some. It is bigger. God has a love for you and I that we could never understand. We try and try but it is just so BIG.
Then comes the best part, he wants us to love him back. We might not deserve it but because of what Jesus did it is ours. So IGNITEyouth, my newest challenge? Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind. And know He is waiting for you saying::  I love you.

Then we got thinking!! (Don’t be too scared, it can happen)
Maybe IGNITEyouth (YOU) can take on this “random act of kindness” mentality, and bless complete strangers.

Strangers who may not necessarily be nice to you (like spotlight lady) or be the coolest people or funniest or prettiest anything like that. Then we can come to youth and have good news stories about how we blessed people this week.

Don’t get us wrong, we don’t meaning come in boasting about how great we were this week, instead sharing and encouraging others by the good deeds that we did, and blessing the people in our community.

So this week, go out and bless others!

As much as this year has been great i have one really BIG issue with what we’ve been saying for the past term and a bit.

At the start of the year at summer camp we all ran around saying the change starts here and burning all our problems on bits of paper.

But what if i said to all of you that that isnt the answer?? That isnt enough…

We need to stop living ‘the change starts here’ and start living ‘the change is already happening!!’

And as much fun as setting fire to all our problems is, we need to really get down to the core of the issue…ie our daily walk with God! We cant really hope to achieve much by burning some paper can we?? Real change comes from a relationship with our Creator.

And a real relationship with our Creator comes from doing our daily walk with Him (reading your bible, praying, that sort of thing)

So…the change starts here is a helpful phrase but needs to be put into the past. What we should be doing is the change is already happening!!
Problems wont go away just by burning them on paper, we need a real relationship with Jesus.
And finally, a real relationship comes from spending time with Him daily!!

Anyway…thats all for now but ill be back!! *insert german accent*

Fortunately for us, followers of Jesus, we have a King who loves us incredibly. He does not maintain his kingship, or his rule, through keeping us in anxiety. He isn’t a dictating sort of King who keeps us on edge or who keeps his monarchy firm through fear in his subjects. God’s kingship is based on the opposite, we do his bidding, in faithful obedience, because we are free from fear and anxiety! Matthew 6:24-34 teaches 8 things about why we don’t need to be anxious or fearful.

The Main Point
Verse 25: “Do not be anxious about your life.” Verse 31: “Do not be anxious, saying , ‘What shall we eat?’” Verse 34: “Do not be anxious about tomorrow.” So one thing should ring loud and clear at the end of this post, “Jesus does not want me to be anxious.”
But that’s a negative way of saying, “Seek first God’s kingdom”. In other words, in everything make God the King. In every situation and affair, give God recognition for the kingly power which is His. Do his will with the confidence that he will work for you and meet all your needs.

Alright: 8 Quick Points

1. Life Is More Than Food and Clothing
Verse 25. What does food and clothing get you?
a. Pleasure. (Food tastes good, looking good is sweet, worldly things are pleasurable)
b. Human Praise. (That look that you get when you nail an exam, or have nice rims on your car)
c. Long life. (The protection from the winter, the nice house, the medical attention)

2. The Birds of the Air Work, and Count on God.
Verse 26. You dont see the sparrow, in its small brain-ness, storing for tomorrow, or next week. It goes day by day, knowing or trusting, that there will be provision. When the sun comes up tomorrow, God will still be God. Just as God feeds the birds, so He will provide for us.

3. Anxiety won’t get you anywhere.
Verse 27. That’s just it. Anxiety doesn’t get you anywhere. It’s useless.

4. God delights to Adorn things.
Verse 28-29. What the? Adorn? Shove adorn up your pipe Royce.
Alright let me explain. God loves to give. God loves to reveal his glory in the beauty of creation, including you. But someone may protest: God has not made me good-looking, God has not adorned me! I would only ask this question: Where have you ever seen a disciple of Jesus who did not have the adornment he needed to do what God had called him to do? Be careful. Do not measure the perfection of God’s provision by some standard below his calling. And do not forget that when we have finished carrying our crosses on torn shoulders in this life like Jesus, there will be kingly robes for us all.

5. Unbelievers are anxious about food and clothing.
Verse 32. In this verse are the following two reasons. Worrying, like someone who does not know Jesus, shows we have exactly the same concerns as them. Ask Russell, does the Lord want us to be free from concern? You can bet he will say yes. Anxiety over the things of this world, places us in the same world as the world that unbelievers live in. Is it the things of this world that make us happy, content? They ought not to be.

6. Our heavenly Father knows what we need.
By worrying, you are saying that God either; doesn’t know what you need, or that He doesn’t have the heart of a loving Father and won’t give you what you need. Lean on Him, leave Him on the throne! The world has nothing eternal to offer, and your loving heavenly Father knows your needs now… and forever.

7. God will carry your burdens, when you seek Him.
Verse 33. The best reason to stop being anxious is that when you do, God starts being anxious for you. It’s such a foolish thing to insist on carrying anxious burdens which God has promised to carry for us when we put him first in everything we do. God works for your best, and provides all your needs.

8. Tomorrow will be anxious for itself.
Alright I don’t want the last point to be complicated, or too much of a stretch. Just know this. God has appointed to each day its own pleasures and troubles. Dont bring tomorrows troubles into today, it will only take the form of anxiety. Each day, God is God, God is good.

Come to Jesus Forget your allegiances. Chase Him, and chase Him first, this is the only way to losing the grip of anxiety in your life.
